Power Management

Power Management

This PoE switch features a power management mechanism, so when the total allocated power exceeds the power budget (120W), the PoE ports will be powered off one by one starting from Port 8 until the total power is below the threshold that the PoE switch is capable of supplying.

Auto Detection of Adaptive Devices

Reolink RLA-PS1 will automatically detect whether the device connected to its ports is a PoE device and whether it needs to be powered. To avoid damage, it will not supply power to non-PoE devices.

4KV Surge Protection

Applying professional lightning protection, this RLA-PS1 PoE switch will effectively prevent the power of lightning strikes from damaging connected devices and ensure their long-term service.

What is the Reolink RLA-PS1?

The Reolink RLA-PS1 is a 10-port PoE switch with 8 PoE+ ports, 2 Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports, and a 120W total PoE power budget. It is designed to power and connect Reolink PoE cameras or other PoE devices through Ethernet cables.

Do I really need a PoE switch?

You need a PoE switch if your camera does not receive power from an NVR’s built-in PoE port or another power source. It is especially useful when you want to power multiple PoE cameras, connect cameras through your router/LAN, or use an NVR model without PoE ports.

Is a PoE switch necessary for NVR?

It depends on the NVR model. If your PoE NVRs have built-in PoE ports, so a switch is not always required. But if the model has no PoE ports, PoE cameras need external power, usually through a PoE switch.
