The Reolink RLC-811A is a 4K 8MP PoE security bullet camera designed for high-detail outdoor surveillance with IP67 rating. It features ultra-clear 3840×2160 resolution, a 5× optical zoom motorized lens for flexible close-up or wide-area monitoring, and smart AI detection that distinguishes people, vehicles, and animals to reduce false alerts.
For night security, it combines infrared night vision with motion-activated spotlights and a built-in siren for full-color deterrence. It also supports two-way audio, H.265 video compression for efficient storage, and no-subscription local recording via microSD and NVR.
The main difference between the Reolink RLC-810A and RLC-811A is the lens system, especially the optical zoom capability. The RLC-810A uses a fixed lens for a fixed wide-angle view and only supports digital zoom. In contrast, the RLC-811A features a 5× motorized optical zoom varifocal lens.
The Reolink RLC-811A has a variable field of view because of its 5× motorized optical zoom lens. When zoomed out to 2.7mm, it provides a wide 105° horizontal and 55° vertical view for broad area coverage. When fully zoomed in to 13.5mm, the view narrows to a 31° horizontal and 17° vertical angle.
The Reolink RLC-811A is best placed in areas where you need wide coverage plus the ability to zoom in on important details. Ideal locations include front doors, driveways, garages, side entrances, and backyard perimeters, where its 5× optical zoom can capture distant objects like vehicles.
For best results, mount it 8–12 feet high, angled slightly downward to reduce blind spots, and ensure it has a clear line of sight with minimal obstructions for optimal 4K surveillance coverage.
Setting up the RLC-811A is straightforward with PoE plug-and-play installation. Most troubleshooting issues can be resolved by checking cables, network connection, and app settings.
