What Is the Vandal Resistant Rating (IK Code) of Reolink RLC-422 & RLC-422W
The capacity of an enclosure to withstand external mechanical impact could be classified by the Vandal Resistant Rating (IK Code), which is an international standard for defining levels of resistance for a security camera’s housing or in regards to the protection it offers the camera’s mechanical and electronic components.
To maximize vandal resistance, Reolink RLC-422 dome security camera and RLC-422W 5MP dome IP camera are manufactured to meet IK 10 standard, which means Reolink RLC-422 and RLC-422W cameras can sustain up to 20 joules external mechanical impact and be rendered as highly vandal-proof.
The following table clearly illustrates the IK code and the impacts sustained accordingly.
|IK Code||Impact Size Protected Against (joules)||Description|
|IK 0||–||No protection against any mechanical impact|
|IK 1||0.15||Protection against a 200g object dropped from 7.5cm|
|IK 2||0.2||Protection against a 200g object dropped from 10cm|
|IK 3||0.35||Protection against a 200g object dropped from 17.5cm|
|IK 4||0.5||Protection against a 200g object dropped from 25cm|
|IK 5||0.7||Protection against a 200g object dropped from 35cm|
|IK 6||1||Protection against a 500g object dropped from 20cm|
|IK 7||2||Protection against a 500g object dropped from 40cm|
|IK 8||5||Protection against a 1.7Kg object dropped from 29.5cm|
|IK 9||10||Protection against a 5Kg object dropped from 20cm|
|IK 10||20||Protection against a 5Kg object dropped from 40cm|
|IK 10+||40||Protection against a 10Kg object dropped from 40cm|
