This makes no difference. One dot of signal strength. My router and NVR are always connected by ethernet cable.
Thank You very much.
I'm pretty sure there is a solution because I had the exact same problem with a system from another manufacturer. The Reolink system is far
better and easier to install and use than their system even though they have wireless PTZ cameras. Again, thanks for any help in getting the mobile client to work.
OK, I obtained a 50 foot ethernet cable and did as you suggested. It seems as though that was how I added the camera in the first place. I followed the instructions as closely as possible given the fact that things did not happen as your instructions stated. (Windows 10 issue?) However, at the end, I still only have one signal bar (the round dot) of signal strength. That seems to be enough of a signal to avoid dropping out, so am OK with it.
I am a little confused how you did to the system. Did you change the antennas connected to the NVR into a better one?
I'm using the same antennas. But using shielded 60″ cables to get them up in the air some.
We have not tested in this way. How do you think of this way to make the signal better?
It doesn't make the signal any better....it makes the ability of the NVR to capture the signal better.
Did you try the 2 suggestions above?
1. add a wifi extension between the NVR and camera
I may try this if I ever get a 50 foot ethernet cable. Also, there is already a Belkin 300N wifi extender less than 6 feet from the camera.
2. change the signal channel
Yes, I tried ALL the other channels, made no difference.
Well, I had to do something about the signal dropping so I bought two shielded antenna extensions with the RP-SMA ends. I bought 60″ ones and mounted the antennas up the wall as opposed to having them attached to the NVR and sitting on my desk. I'm surprised that I'm not getting at least one more signal strength bar but I'm pleased to report that in the last three hours that I've been running this, there has been NO dropped signal from the camera that only has the dot at the bottom for a signal.
Just an FYI...I put the camera AND the NVR PAK update files on the USB flash drive and then was able to install each one separately.
Happy to report that resetting the camera fixed the issue.
Well, iphone app installed but it doesn't do anything, what a disappointment.
After setting this system up at my desk, and everything was fine with the exception of the flaky antenna, I mounted the cameras outside in their permanent places.....camera with the flaky antenna does not transmit very well at all. Drops the signal.....even though it is about 6 feet from a wifi extender. Will return to Amazon because waiting 24 hours for help everytime I have a problem or question is unacceptable.
Where is the order ID located? I bought the RLK4-210WB2 from Amazon. Keep in mind that I can't provide personal credentials in a public forum.
The camera works, it's just that one antenna won't screw on all the way.
Did you have the app installed on your tablet?
No, the app will not install on my Android 5.0 tablet and it will not install on my Android 4.1.1 tablet.
The problem is not finding the app in Google Play Store, the problem is it won't install on any Android tablets I have.
I only get the message that 1- ”Your device isn't compatible with this version” or 2- ”This app is incompatible with all your devices”
I tried scanning the QR code above, nothing happened. The app did install on iphone but I would rather use 8″ and 10″ tablets for administration and demo's.
When will the Reolink Mobile app be available for Android 5.0 and Android 4.1.1?May 18, 2016 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Can any Reolink system function in a home without wifi? #2518
But she has no router, no switch, no smartphone, no computer, no internet. She would need a complete stand alone system. So not possible?
Thank You for your prompt response. It's not so much an inconvenience as it is a lack of versatility but this is just an entry level system (RLK4-210WB2)so it could be expected. Thanks again.
